Jackson is 15 months old! We went to the doctor for his well-visit this past Friday. He is 22 lbs, 31 inches long and his head circumference is 18 inches. He is a healthy happy little guy! He wasn't wild about the shots but luckily there were only 2.
These last three months have brought on a lot of changes! Jackson started taking steps in May but it would just be a couple here and there. He started
walking on July 9th. Yes, its crazy once they start walking but I think I prefer it to crawling. He is walking up the stairs while holding onto the railing with one hand. He wants to walk down while holding onto either our hands or the railing but he does much better when I get him to turn around and crawl down backwards.
He has started playing with his toys by himself a little more. While I encourage independent play he is also a little young to want to play independently for long. He often wants to see what I am doing instead. He loves to put a toy into another and then take them out again. And he empties out a bucket and then proceeds to fill it up again. He is also working on learning how to put the shapes into his shape sorter.
Jackson is talking more and more. He babbles and jabbers on as if he is having a full conversation with different intonations and pauses and all. He says several words now such as dada, ball, doggie, yaya for cat, baby, yes, no, this (sounds more like "dis" while pointing at anything and everything). He said mama a while ago but has since stopped saying it :( I'm hoping he starts saying it again. Jackson is signing "more" "all done" and sometimes "eat". We watched a baby signing video some a while back and he wouldn't look at the tv for more than 2 minutes. I stopped putting it on since he obviously wasn't into it but sure enough he did learn some signs.
Lots of travels these past 3 months. We celebrated Memorial Day at the lake, went to Durham, NC for David and Lis's
wedding and went to the
beach for July 4th. Jackson loved it! We also went to
Iowa to visit his Grandpa, Mimi, Great Grandma Helen and many more relatives.
Jackson is sleeping 7-7:30 or 8am and is still taking 2 naps a day most days. Sometimes we skip the morning nap if we are having a playdate or something where we want to get out early and beat the heat but he still obviously really needs and wants this nap so I'll let him decide when he's done with it! He sleeps for about an hour to an hour and a half in the morning and about 2 hours in the afternoon.
Jackson is still a good eater. He loves his organic whole milk and drinks about 24 oz a day. He could live off of blueberries, strawberries and pretty much any other fruit. One of his newer faves is peanut butter crackers. These days we don't have to cut things up as much. He still only has 8 teeth but chews his food up much more. I have noticed that he is occasionally picky. One day he'll love something and the next refuse it. I know that is pretty typical for this age though and we just continue to serve him nutritious meals and always look for new foods to try. We had our last nursing session on May 23. It was a little bittersweet for me. I am proud of myself for making it through the first year - we had such a rough start and it was probably one of the hardest things I have ever done!
Jackson loves to climb the ladder on his slide and go down all by himself. He has lots of fun playing in the backyard these days. He pretends to talk on the phone. His new thing is pulling anything and everything behind him...Cooper's leash, Cooper's dog bed, towels, shopping bags. Jackson loves to give hugs and kisses these days. We love it even when they are a big open mouth kiss drooling all over our face!
Is there something on my face?
He loves snuggling with his Curious George doll while he sleeps. He puts his arm around George every time he sleeps!
