Camden has been sleeping much better this month. Right after he turned 5 months we took the changing pad out of his crib. He still had a hard time falling asleep the first few nights but then started doing so much better. He goes to bed around 7:30 or 8 and is usually waking one time to nurse in the middle of the night. Many nights he wakes around 11:30 or 12 and cries but will usually fall back asleep on his own after a few minutes. He is a mover! We kept finding him in the morning turned around the opposite direction while still on his back. A few days later he started rolling over onto his tummy during playtime and then also started rolling over in his crib. I think once he was sleeping on his tummy it helped him sleep better. He slept all night long the first night! Unfortunately he didn't continue that trend! Camden's naps have been getting better. I'm trying to put him in his crib for at least 2 of his naps a day. Often times I have to give him 15 minutes or so to see if he falls asleep. He is usually napping around 9:30, 1:30 and around 4:30 or 5. Some days I have to resort to putting him in the swing if he won't fall asleep in the crib. He winds up napping in his car seat some if we are out running errands in the morning. I've tried giving him a pacifier but he still doesn't like it and it doesn't help soothe him. When he doesn't nap well he is pretty fussy and gets overtired easily so getting on a better napping schedule is a good thing!
Camden is nursing 5 or 6 times a day. He is such a sweet snuggler while he is nursing. I truly love it! It definitely takes a lot of patience and stamina nursing during those early weeks but then once you get in your groove it's a wonderful thing! He's done ok with his bottles recently but he usually only has 1, maybe 2, a week. We started some solid foods right before he turned six months. I skipped rice cereal and started with sweet potatoes. He did ok and took several bites and then wasn't into it after that. We will start trying lots of other fruits and veggies as well as yogurt. I'm thinking I will do a combo approach between baby led weaning and regular purees. Camden still spits up but its usually just a few times a day. Sometimes though I feel like I've been puked on all day long!
Camden is rolling over all the time and scooting around on the floor some, especially backwards! He rarely stays in one spot! I leave him on his play mat and go into the kitchen only to come back and find him half under the sofa! Literally 60 seconds after I left him! He loves to play with Sophie the giraffe and also likes the caterpillar toy as well as his rubber duck, books, and some of Jackson's toys that are appropriate for him to hold and play with. He loves to read and is always grabbing for the book. I find he is less drawn to the TV when it is on (which isn't too often) He also seems to forget about our phones some. He likes to be in the exersaucer too but usually for only about 15 minutes or so before he loses interest. He is drawn to tags on toys and on the boppy pillow. He loves to play with his feet too. He is doing really well at sitting on his own but will still topple over if he reaches for a toy. He loves standing up and will "jump" on your legs.
Camden is 16 lb 4 oz (24%) 26.5 inches (41%) and his head circumference is 17 inches (44%). He is wearing 3-6 month clothes and some of Jackson's 6-9 month stuff but those are still a little loose on him. We switched to size 3 diapers as well. Still no teeth yet but he is drooling a lot! He lost a lot of his hair in the back but still has the long patch on top. I have to comb it to the side to keep it out of his eyes!
He adores his big brother and will always smile and laugh for him. Jackson sings songs (twinkle twinkle, rockabye baby and abc's) to Camden every day and started talking in baby talk for him. Jackson says googah and Camden thinks it is hilarious!
When he had croup we spent some time in the steamy bathroom to help the congestion
