Camden: 5 Months

Camden turned 5 months old while we were in Sanibel Island, Fl. Camden was sleeping ok this month. We started putting him in the crib at night and it was a hard transition. We start around 7:30 or so but sometimes he's not asleep until close to 9. He would cry and cry even after he'd been sound asleep laying on me. He is sleeping in his sleep sack on his changing pad in his crib! Ha! I'm sure that wasn't the right thing to do but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes! He still had that startle reflex then and the changing pad seemed to help. He was still waking up once a night and sometimes twice a night. Camden takes a pretty good morning nap but the other naps are very up in the air. He does not want to nap in his crib so he usually ends up in the swing still.

He's changing so fast. I remember when he would fall asleep on us or when we would pick him up out of the bassinet or crib he would have his legs all squished up and arch his back. Now he's long and lean and stretches out and can even sit on my hip now.

He is nursing 5 or 6 times a day. Usually every 3-4 hours during the day and once or twice at night. He is so distracted while nursing that he could hear a pin drop and want to see what it was! He likes to hold my finger sometimes while nursing. It is so sweet :) We haven't started any solid foods yet but we will start around 6 months or so. He is starting to show some signs he is ready. Camden does not like to take bottles. He is very particular who he will take it from. And even then it's sometimes not a guarantee. He does not like to take a pacifier either. I have tried off and on but he just spits it out. Camden is a "happy spitter". Early on he had bad reflux and would arch and scream from the paint and burning. Now it just seems to come out but doesn't phase him. Jackson was the same way. I'm so glad it doesn't bother him anymore but it does get messy :(

Camden is ok with tummy time but usually starts fussing pretty quick. He prefers to sit up in your lap or be standing on his feet. We are working on sitting up and he is getting close to sitting on his own. He loves his feet and gets them in his mouth any chance he gets! Every time we change his diaper you have to attempt to get his leg back down so you can put a new diaper on. Camden went on his first airplane ride and was great! He nursed on takeoff and landing. He didn't sleep too much on the flight but was pretty good just hanging out and watching Jackson.

Camden loves playing on his playmat and enjoys being in his exersaucer most of the time. He loves his elephant toy and Sophie the giraffe. He's getting really good at grasping toys. He enjoys reading books with us and is always watching Jackson. He loves to smile and has the absolute sweetest giggle! He notices everything! If he sees the TV on he'll do everything he can to turn himself around to watch it. Thankfully its not on much during the day. He also will always try to see our iPhones and iPads. I don't remember Jackson paying any attention to that stuff until he was older! Jackson loves to lay with Camden and play with him. If Camden starts cying, Jackson will say "It's otay buddy". And sometimes he says "Oh, you want your mommy"!

Camden is wearing size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. He doesn't have any teeth yet but is drooling a lot and putting everything in his mouth. Camden's hair is coming in blonde but has brownish-redish ends. He has an almost combover in the front. A patch of long hair in the front but mostly bald in the back. He has gorgeous blue eyes.
