Back in August we were ready to start finishing out our basement. We had drawn up plans with an architect, got our permit from the city and started lining up plumbing, electrical, etc. Jimmy acted as the general contractor for the job and managed all the subs and kept everything moving along. We picked out all fixtures and finishes together except for a few I had to pick out by myself in a rush when the ones we had ordered didn't come in in time. Our basement is the same footprint of our house so there is a lot of space down there! We planned a bedroom, full bathroom, craft/music room, storage/mechanical room, bar, living room, play room and a workshop big enough for Jimmy to work in.

We moved a few walls and had to cut the concrete to move a little plumbing but otherwise didn't make too many changes. There was a lot of pipes and ductwork that just couldn't be moved so we had to tray most of the ceilings in the rooms to get as much height as we could.
Drywall went up! This is from the living room facing the stairs and Jackson is standing where the bar will be.

The bedroom. They installed the AC unit directly in front of the window! Clearly this was going to be moved. Not acceptable! There also used to be another set of windows in this room but we wanted a wall to put the bed on with no window behind it so we framed it in and drywalled over it.

Jimmy and his dad built a window seat in the playroom. Walls are painted and windows/doors are stained! Wall color is Light French Grey by SW.

Lights are in! I had to choose the pendant lights spur the moment when ours didn't come in in time. I think I love these even better than the other ones we had ordered!

The living room. I am in love with the furniture we picked out. I always thought I wanted a big sectional but wound up with a sofa and 4 swivel chairs and some ottomans. Love the setup we went with!

We love having movie night in the basement now. This night was The Jetsons. Loved that flashback for myself. I used to love the show!
