Blueberry Picking

I took the boys blueberry picking and we met up with Kylie and Torsten. It was about 95 degrees with 98% humidity the day we went. So it was pretty hot! We had fun but I couldn't wait to get back in the car with the A/C blasting!

The lady said they don't use pesticides so you can eat the berries right off the bushes. Jackson took what she said literally!

Trying to take our own picture before Kylie stepped up to help us!

We wound up picking about a lb of blueberries. There's no telling how many wound up in their tummies first! When we got home I made blueberry popsicles at Jackson's request. I also made two blueberry cobblers and blueberry muffins.

Lake July 2015

We got to The Landing pool one morning and it was empty! I had never seen the water so still!

Nana even tried the waterslide! So brave!

We borrowed this water ski trainer from one of Nana's friends. Jackson was super excited to try it and loved water skiing!

Such a beautiful day and no one else on the water!

He's too little and light to be able to get out of the wake. He is so adventurous! We are very proud of him wanting to always try new things. He was skiing around the lake and looking at all the houses and trees the whole time. Everyone who passed us was so impressed and loved seeing him skiing. They gave him a thumbs up!

Mom also borrowed some skis for me. They were junior skis but I was still able to get them on. They were a little hard to get up since they are shorter than adult skis. Jackson found it amusing that I fell in a couple times while he never fell in the water.

I had so much fun water skiing again! Now we are on the hunt for a deal on a ski boat and I need to look into buying some skis and a wakeboard. I was so sore the next day. Talk about a whole body workout!

 He loves it!!

Yard and Garden Summer 2015

Jimmy built a garden for me this past spring and I planted it in April. I was very ambitious and was wanting to experiment with what I could grow. I had cucumbers, bush beans, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, cantaloupe, pumpkins, squash, zucchini, lettuce, basil, and a selection of herbs. I didn't have luck with everything.

In this middle of him building the boxes. We utilized some empty space on a hill so he had to dig and set the boxes in the hill and make sure they were level and all. He did a fantastic job!
I planted all my flower beds and pots on the deck, driveway, and front patio

We had some new front landscaping put in and did new flower beds, azaleas, lorepetalum, seasonal beds, grasses. And doesn't the grass look great?! Jimmy does such an awesome job maintaining our yard!

Just after planting. Back box has cucumber plants, bush bean seeds, squash, dill and peppers. Front box has cantaloupe, zucchini, herbs, marigolds and more peppers

After a few weeks everything is sprouting and growing!

After a few more weeks
The pumpkin plants keep flowering but then the flowers are falling off and the plants start dying.

While my neighbor Christy was out of town I went to water and check her garden. One day I picked this. The zucchini was hiding - can you believe how big it was? I had to hold my arm up to it so you can really tell.

My fingerling potatoes I harvested!

Roasted fingerling potatoes - they were delicious!
Our gorgeous yard

The plants kept growing and I picked many bunches of green beans, started getting some cucumbers and lots of tomatoes. My squash and zucchini plants didn't do too well :(

Overall it was a good start to having my own garden. Some days it got too much water and other not enough. It's hard when we are out of town multiple times in the summer! Towards the end we got the sprinkler system changed so it would hit the garden as well.
