After he turned one I was just nursing in the evening before bed. I had to have an MRI and they recommended not nursing for 24 hours due to the contrast used. Camden was 13 months and I kind of decided I was ok with being done. I thought he would have a hard adjustment but it never phased him! I gave him cups of organic whole milk morning, midday, after nap and in the evening at first. He was only drinking 3-4 ounces at a time. After a couple months he started drinking more and more and now drinks about 20-24 ounces a day. He loves all fruit, eggs, pb&j, veggie straws, cheese sticks, peas, waffles, chicken, beans, pork, steak, applesauce, goldfish and on and on! If you try to give him something he doesn't want he'll shake his head no. And if you still give it to him he'll toss it to the ground. He's pretty opinionated! Somedays he'll eat bananas or strawberries and sometime he won't but overall he is a great eater and very easy going. Thankfully we haven't run into any food allergies yet! In the morning he loves to have his milk sippy cup and a bowl of dry cereal and sit at his little table. He will get a bowl out of his drawer and bring to you to put cereal or a snack in!
Camden babbles all the time. He says mama, dada, nana, daga (for dog) says something like jah for Jackson. I started working with him on sign language just like I did with Jackson. Around 15 months he signed "eat" and "more". Jackson would always try to help me teach him. he would do his hands and say "say more". It was too cute! He sometimes will sign "all done." He understands so much of what we say. If we say its time to eat he walks right over to his high chair or booster seat to eat. Or if Cooper comes in from outside I ask him if he wants to give him his cookie and he walks to the cabinet where we keep them, gets one out and closes the lid again on the container, if I say we need to wash hands he walks to the bathroom, sometimes I ask him to get his pillow or monkey for naptime and he'll wander over get it and come back to me.
Camden goes to bed around 7:30 or 8 usually and sleeps until 7 or 7:30am. Every now and then we wakes up around 6:40. We read books every night before bed and then snuggle. As Jackson got older we had the same routine and then would put him in his crib and he fell asleep on his own. Camden has always had a harder time with that. Maybe it's also partly that I've realized that this will most likely be the last time I ever have a snuggle baby to rock and put to bed. So most times I relish in that fact and decide to deal with the adjustment later! We snuggle and rock usually until he's asleep. It's just easier in the end. He has a hard time settling on his own. That's why I am nervous for the future. I hope I don't have to lay with him until he falls asleep when he's in a big boy bed. We have never done that with Jackson. I guess we will see when we get to that point! There are plenty of times I just don't have time to rock him to bed and he cries and cries and sometimes will fall asleep on his own and sometimes he won't. He naps around 1 usually until 2:30 or 3:30. Naps have been tough too. He was still taking 2 naps a day but it started messing up his second nap. I have to wait until after I have picked up Jackson from preschool and get home to put him down and most days it is a race to the crib. He is so ready by then! If its not a school day and we are home, often times I put him down around 12. We read books before nap too. He finally sits still to read! He loved books before too but would want to be up and about and flipping pages so fast. "Boom Boom, Beep Beep, Roar", "If I were a Sheep", "Little Blue Truck", "Moo, Baa, Lalala", "The Going to Bed Book", "Peek-a-who", "Where's Spot?", "100 First Words" are some of his favorites. He's not ready to sit still for longer stories so we look at picture books mostly. He sleeps with a little pillow and a monkey and he is super attached to both. He cuddles them the whole time he's sleeping. He has a few other friends, blankies in his crib but never got super attached to them.
This is how he is every morning when we get him out of his crib. And he carries them downstairs to snuggle with.When I leave him at the gym nursery or with a babysitter he gets very upset when I leave but always calms down very fast. I guess he puts on a big show for me and then plays happily once I am gone. He wants to make me feel guilty!
Camden might possibly be my climber. He is always trying to climb up on chairs and sit on the train table. He loves standing on the bathroom stools just waiting for someone to wash his hands or brush his teeth! He climbs all over their little pottery barn chairs. Thankfully he hasn't tried to climb out of the crib yet!
This guy is busy busy busy! He almost never stops going. He is quite exhausting to keep up with! He wants to do everything Jackson does. Jackson also wants every thing Camden picks up so I'm constantly saying "don't take that from your brother" and "be nice to your brother." I hope once he's a little older they will actually play together instead of me always being referee. However with two boys I am just being realistic thinking there will always be a lot of fighting and arguing going on over here!
Camden is such a smiley guy who is super ticklish everywhere, loves to laugh and loves to be held and snuggled. What a busy, fun and wonderful 15 months its been so far. We love you Camden!
