Labor Day Beach Trip

We packed up and headed back to the beach for the week of Labor Day. We were excited about a week of fun in the sun and no set schedule/work to do! Jackson did awesome in the car. We left right after breakfast and Jackson took a nap waking up when we were about to stop for lunch. We had Chick-Fil-A for lunch and let Jackson run around for a few minutes before loading back up in the car. He played with his toys, drew on his magna-doodle, read books and took another nap. We decided to stop at the grocery store on our way so I ran in and as quickly as possible gathered all the groceries we would need for the week. A short 30 min and couple hundred bucks later we were headed to the condo. One of us has to stay in the condo with Jackson while the other (i.e. Jimmy) unloads the car. Poor guy - nothing like driving 7 1/2 hours and then lugging all our stuff upstairs :(

We had a quick dinner and then hit the beach. We left the door unlocked with Cooper inside. When we came back the door was locked...not good! I think Cooper jumped up and down on the handle after we left and must have slid the lock. Luckily we had opened the sliding door so it was unlocked. Jimmy boosted me up from the first floor and I climbed over the railing and into the condo through the unlocked sliding door. Whew! That was a little nerve racking! We cleaned up and off to bed Jackson went and Jimmy and I spent our evening enjoying the awesome weather outside with a nice glass of wine.

We spent our days lounging in the morning drinking coffee and out at the beach or pool in the afternoons. Jackson is still in between the 2 naps and 1 nap a day schedule so everyday was a little different. He loved the beach and had a ball digging in the sand and splashing in the ocean. The only problem was he had no fear and would get up and run straight down to the water never stopping to look back. He loved "jumping" the waves and always laughed when the waves would crash right in his face. After a couple of days the beach got very rough due to a tropical storm out in the ocean. It was rough even for us. So Jackson couldn't play in the ocean too much after that.

 Loving some watermelon

We went to a local deli one day for lunch. Jackson was such a flirt and was smiling, waving and high fiveing everyone that walked by. What a little cutie! He always loves his kids cups with a straw!

Gretchen, Joe, Connor and Dillon arrived on Monday and Jackson was excited to hang out with his cousins. We went out to eat at our favorite spots and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Dillon had a little cold and without fail Connor got it and then Jackson. It was bound to happen since the were all playing with the same toys. It was a great vacation with the whole family.

We packed up on Saturday morning and went to Ponte Vedra to visit Lindsey and her boys. We even wound up getting a sitter and got to have a night out. Good times!

Our drive home wasn't as smooth sailing as our drive there. Luckily by stopping in Ponte Vedra we cut an hour off the ride. Jackson took one nap and then got a little antsy. We stopped for lunch and to walk around a little. He never took another nap and was very bored of all his toys by that point! He fussed much of the way home and of course was ecstatic when we got home and he could run all over the house!

What a fun trip! I miss the beach already!
